Lloydminster Comprehensive High School

Dear Simon Stang

I am currently attending the Lakeland College University Transfer program. I am studying to become a high school teacher with a major in History and a minor in English. I am writing this letter to gain an observation practicum placement in your school for my EDU 100 class. It is important for me to sit in your class because you are one of my inspirations for my studies at school. I think I would benefit greatly in your classroom environment and learn lots from you.

In grade 12 and throughout high school I was involved with many of the leadership team including becoming its president, running most of the pep Rallies and running meetings when and if necessary, Leadership it often saw us going to places and doing activities for little kids especially in the middle school area of things including going to Bishop Lloyd Middle School for a day for the new grade seven kids that were just coming into the school. I was also in the drama department as both an actor and a stagehand that saw us going to a provincial level for one of the plays “Yes, Dear”.

I am a natural born leader and have taken that role to peers and now I want to take that role to the kids of the future so that they can learn from me and the way I hope they will learn from. I look forward to completing my observation practicum and all the experience I gain from it from you and helping me put it towards my teaching and helping me become a successful teacher. Thank you for your consideration

Sincerely

Chance Blythe

About Me

Hello, to whomever it may concern, this is me. My name is Chance Blythe, and I am a high school aspiring history teacher. I was the Leadership president, and I am a hard and firm believer that every student should be able to do well in a class if they have been in the right environment. I was a in an acting and found the second passion that was not history and that was acting and while I did not fully peruse it, I was able to minor in the drama area

Grow your Vision

I call this area the grow your vison section, I call it that because it allows me to grow my teaching philosophy and allows me to see a unique way to do put the desks in my classrooms  my current idea for desks are in rows because they ae easiest to move them in case a student is acting out. My teaching philosophy is that every student I sable to succeed if they are given the right environment.

Current hot topics

The Alberta Government banning of cell phones for students

In my personal beliefs I think it is a useful and good idea, Students being banned from the use of phones and not being able to access them unless told otherwise and being forced to pay attention in class is a idea which should have been in effect for years. The ban is allowing students to not worry about what people are saying to them, cuts down on the cyber bullying issues in classrooms and allows for students full attentions to be on the class and the subject being taught.

Passion areas

Drama and History

My passion areas for teaching is the art of Drama and Global history. These areas while new ot my liking with Drama being a passion last year and History being two years ago I am very excited to teach students these areas and hopefully inspire them like I was.

The observation reflection

I went to Simon Stang class of Grade 10-11-12 English and Drama classes

The grade 10's

The grade 10's were by far my favorite people because them being grade 10's had all their weird quirks about them like asking me to do posses from their favorite game and asking me to be in their "Hamlet assignment". I read hamlet for them a few times and often Mr. Stang let me teach his drama class for the grade tens because they did simple games that I played when I was in Drama class

The Grade 11's

Grade 11's had way more energy and were more outgoing when I first arrived and they would ask me the most questions out of any of the groups. when I first arrived it was a rapid fire of questions about who I was and what I was doing here. I was asked if I replaced Mr. Stang and was teaching the class. The Grade 11's were often the English class and Mr. Stang did not let me teach this class but he did allow me to answer questions for the stuff they had to do

The grade 12's

The grade 12's did not care for me being their at all. They asked who I was and that was it.They were more concered with graduating then me being their but they were quiet which i liked. They were working on Essays the whole time I was their and while I was allowed to answer questiosns they cared more for Mr. Stangs answer then mine.

This observation assignment taught me that teaching is what I want to do and being their was so much fun those kids were amazing and it was a new adventure everyday with something going wrong and Simon teaching me what to do if something goes wrong.

Teaching effectiveness

"hey just wanted to say thanks for your help today with the Drama 20's both today and Friday" -Jaxon Smith who is a fourth year student doing his UofS teaching program. He sent me this message after a hard day at the school with the students
